Felix Salten. Schriftsteller - Journalist - Exilant

Felix Salten (1869-1945), the author of Bambi, is one of the most successful Austrian writers in the world. As a theatre and cinema critic for Neue Freie Presse and as screenwriter, cabaret entertainer, operetta librettist, travel writer, mentor of young writers at Zsolnay-Verlag, author of children’s books, president of the Austrian PEN Club, art critic and translator, he was instrumental in shaping the culture of his time. He was a master at treading the thin line between high and popular culture.
