Recent Acquisitions

As in 2003, 2004 and 2006, ARTIUM presents Recent Acquisitions, now considered a reference exhibition of this centre-museum, as occurs in the case of the biennial Neighbouring Environments and Gure Artea.This exhibition represents the continuation of a strategy enacted by ARTIUM since its inauguration, namely, to "reveal" the increase in its patrimony, in other words, to show works recently added to this museum´s own collection and, for reasons relating to the specific nature of the exhibitions programmed, have not yet been included in any of these. For this reason, this exhibition does not expound a thesis, with a specific argument, but intends to put on show a selection of the latest works added to the collection. On this occasion, the period covered by the exhibition corresponds to works that were added partly in 2006, 2007 and the first months of 2008, a period in which the total number of new works amounted to 71 purchased artworks, 38 deposited artworks, 2 donations and 1 dation.
