Yves Tanguy. The Surrealist Universe

The exhibition Yves Tanguy. The Surrealist Universe brings to Barcelona nearly 200 pieces that cover, globally and exhaustively, the different facets of this French painter’s artistic career.

Yves Tanguy (1900-1955) is one of the most outstanding figures of the Surrealist movement (he was an undisputed member of the circle of artists that moved in the circles of André Breton), and by whom no retrospective exhibition has ever been put on in this country.

Alongside more emblematic paintings from his Surrealist catalogue, there is also a selection, important in number and quality, of drawings, washes, prints and cadavres exquis. The show is completed with a selection of books and magazines of the time containing illustrations by Tanguy, original photographs and unpublished documentation previously in the possession of his family.
The show Yves Tanguy includes valuable loans from public and private institutions around the world and numerous private collections.
